Safe August Long Weekend Under Police Supervision

The August long weekend is ahead of us, a time for rest and travel. The traffic police are watching over road safety.

On August 14, 2025, national control and prevention actions under the name "SPEED" will take place, as part of the European ROADPOL initiative. The police will focus on enforcing speed limits.

Purpose of the Action

Reducing accidents caused by excessive speed, one of the main causes of tragic events. Fast driving shortens reaction time, lengthens braking distance, and increases the effects of collisions.

Control Methods

Police officers will use marked and unmarked patrol cars with video recorders, laser speed meters, and drones. Controls will include busy routes and dangerous locations.

Response to Offenses

The police will react firmly to speeding, failure to give way, overtaking in prohibited places, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

SPEED Groups

Police SPEED groups will be involved, responding to aggressive behavior on the road.
