Long Weekend - Corpus Christi: An Appeal for Road Safety

The long weekend associated with the Feast of Corpus Christi (from June 18 to June 22, 2025) is approaching. The police announce increased efforts to ensure the safety of all road users.

Increased controls and police priorities

During this period, due to increased traffic, expect more patrols on the roads. Police will use both marked patrol cars and unmarked vehicles with video recorders and motorcycles. The priority will be to ensure smooth traffic flow on the main routes. In places where difficulties occur, the police will manually direct traffic.

What will the police pay attention to?

• Eliminating drunk drivers from traffic.
• Responding to particularly dangerous offenses: speeding, failure to yield, improper overtaking.
• Checking the technical condition of vehicles (lighting, tires).
• Checking that everyone is using seat belts and that children are transported in car seats.
• Paying attention to pedestrians and their use of reflectors after dark outside built-up areas.

Appeal for prudence

Remember that the weather in June is changeable. Adjust your speed to the road conditions! We appeal for caution, common sense and prudence, and for compliance with the rules by all road users. The principle of limited trust is especially important. Never get behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol! The consequences can be tragic.

Statistics from last year

Last year, during the analogous weekend (May 29, 2024 - June 2, 2024) in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, there were 9 accidents in which 2 people died and 11 were injured. As many as 192 drivers under the influence of alcohol were arrested.
