Safe Riding on E-Scooters: New Regulations and Statistics

Statistics That Give Pause

The year 2026 brings worrying news regarding the safety of e-scooter users. Between January and July, 828 accidents were recorded, resulting in 11 deaths and 745 injuries. These figures exceed last year's data.

Key Risk Groups

Young users aged 7-14 and 15-17 are at the highest risk. A special appeal for caution is directed at them and their guardians.

Current Regulations

  • Age: Children under 13 are prohibited from riding e-scooters on public roads.
  • Helmet: As of June 2026, those under 16 are required to wear a protective helmet.
  • Licensing: A bicycle license is required from the age of 13.
  • Traffic Rules: Users must use bike lanes. If unavailable, they may ride on the road (only if the speed limit is 30 km/h or less) or on the sidewalk (at pedestrian speed, yielding to pedestrians).

Remember the Rules

Safety depends on your decisions: do not use your phone while riding, do not carry passengers, and always wear a helmet.
