Safe Easter Holidays on Roads: Police Appeal and Important Restrictions

In connection with the approaching Easter Holidays, which traditionally involve increased road traffic, Kujawsko-Pomorskie police officers are preparing for intensive safety operations. The aim is to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent accidents throughout the region.

Enhanced Police Operations in Kujawy and Pomorze (April 3-6, 2026)

From Friday, April 3, 2026, until Monday, April 6, 2026, officers of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Bydgoszcz will conduct increased controls on the roads of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship. The action aims to enhance the safety of all road users.

What will police officers focus on?

  • Removing drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs from traffic.
  • Responding to the most dangerous offenses, such as speeding, failure to yield, improper overtaking, and offenses committed against pedestrians.
  • Controlling the technical condition of vehicles, with particular attention to lighting and tire condition.
  • Checking the correct use of seat belts by all passengers and compliance with child seat regulations.
  • Paying attention to pedestrian safety, including the use of reflective elements after dusk outside built-up areas.

During the upcoming holidays, as in previous years, an increased number of traffic police officers will ensure the safety of travelers. More patrols, including unmarked police cars equipped with video recorders, will appear on exit routes from cities starting Friday.

Appeal to Motorcyclists and All Drivers

Sunny weather often encourages motorcycle trips. We remind motorcyclists that, in addition to the joy of riding, safety – their own and others' – should be a priority. A motorcycle does not provide the same protection as a car. A helmet and protective clothing, although essential, will not prevent all injuries. Therefore, we appeal for common sense, caution, and avoiding risk at all costs.

The police appeal to all drivers for imagination and responsibility on the road, adjusting speed to prevailing conditions, and absolutely avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol.

Statistics from Last Year (Easter 2025)

During last year's Easter holiday period (April 18-21, 2025) on the roads of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, 10 road accidents were recorded. 1 person died, and 10 were injured. Police also identified 81 drivers who were operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.

Heavy Vehicle Traffic Bans During Easter Holidays (Nationwide)

In accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Transport of July 31, 2007, a temporary traffic ban for vehicles and vehicle combinations with a permissible gross vehicle weight exceeding 12 tons (excluding buses) will be introduced nationwide on the following dates:

  • April 4, 2026: from 18:00 to 22:00 (day preceding Easter)
  • April 5, 2026: from 08:00 to 22:00 (first day of Easter)
