Golden Triumph for 'Sokoliki'! Brodnica Team Dominates at the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Special Olympics Bocce Tournament

Students from the Special Education School Complex in Brodnica, representing the "Sokoliki" club, have returned victorious from the 11th Kujawsko-Pomorskie Special Olympics Bocce Tournament. The young athletes secured a full set of medals, proving their excellent form and the effectiveness of their training. It's worth noting that in the spirit of the Special Olympics, every participant is a winner from the start, and participation is more valuable than the outcome.

Event and Participants

The tournament took place on February 27, 2026, in Golub-Dobrzyń, gathering 12 teams from schools and educational-care centers across the entire Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship. Brodnica's "Sokoliki" proudly represented the Special Education School Complex.

Tournament Objectives

The main goals of the event included popularizing bocce as a sport for individuals with intellectual disabilities, integrating participants with the local community, and promoting the noble ideals of the Special Olympics. For the top athletes, the tournament also offered a chance for qualification to national competitions and a summary of their hard training efforts.

Heroes from Brodnica

The Brodnica school was represented by students from the Special Primary School: Szymon Ziółkowski, Piotr Werle, Jakub Aleksa, Oskar Modraszewski, and Mikołaj Wrzosek. After a series of fierce and exciting matches, the "Sokoliki" athletes proudly claimed three medals!

  • Bronze Medal: Piotr Werle

Just off the podium, in fourth place, were Jakub Aleksa and Mikołaj Wrzosek, also demonstrating a high level of play.

Acknowledgements and Awards

All tournament participants received souvenirs, material prizes, and refreshments, emphasizing the event's inclusive and joyful nature. The "Sokoliki" team was prepared for the competition by physical education teachers: Paweł Kaźmierczyk and Rafał Kinczewski, who also served as the trip leader.
