Motorcyclists Return to Roads: Police Remind of Safety Rules

The motorcycle season is officially beginning! With sunny weather forecasted for the upcoming weekend, many two-wheeled enthusiasts will appear on Polish roads. Police are appealing to all road users – both motorcyclists and car drivers – for mutual caution and special care, so that this season is safe for everyone.

Why Are Motorcyclists a High-Risk Group?

Two-wheeler riders are one of the most vulnerable groups of road users. In the event of a collision with another vehicle or obstacle, a motorcyclist has drastically lower chances of avoiding serious injuries, harm, or even loss of life. Unlike car drivers, motorcyclists are not protected by a car body, seatbelts, or airbags. Their only protection is an appropriate helmet and protective suit.

Riding a motorcycle requires not only possessing the correct licenses and skills but, above all, common sense, a realistic assessment of one's own capabilities, and strict adherence to traffic regulations.

Key Rules for Motorcyclists:

  • Remember that a public road is not a race track.
  • Always adjust your speed to the current road conditions.
  • Always signal maneuvers clearly and with appropriate advance notice.
  • Never force right-of-way.
  • Apply the principle of limited trust towards other drivers.
  • Ensure you wear appropriate protective clothing – it's your only "seatbelt".

Appeal to Car Drivers: Increase Your Vigilance!

We also appeal to drivers of four-wheeled vehicles to pay special attention to motorcyclists. Check your mirrors more frequently, especially before starting an overtaking maneuver or changing lanes. Remember the presence of two-wheelers and never cut them off.

Mutual Respect is Key to Safety

Let's remember that mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation among all road users are the foundation of road safety.
