Jabłonowo Pomorskie Prioritizes Water Security: Key Modernization Completed

On Monday, March 9, 2026, the City and Commune of Jabłonowo Pomorskie ceremonially put into operation a modernized system for water treatment, transmission, and distribution of drinking water. The investment, valued at over 7 million PLN, with 5 million PLN coming from European Union funds under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, significantly improves residents' access to high-quality water.

Modern Water Treatment Plants and Network Expansion

The project, named "Modernization of the drinking water treatment, transmission, and distribution system for the City and Commune of Jabłonowo Pomorskie," involved comprehensive actions. A key element was the modernization and expansion of water treatment plants in Góry and Mileszewy, which now feature state-of-the-art technologies. Furthermore, the water supply network was extended with 55 new connections in the village of Nowa Wieś Szlachecka. A strategic water link was also constructed under the Olsztyn-Poznań railway line in Buk Góralski, which, as Mayor Marzanna Fettke emphasized, seemed impossible until recently. "Today, residents see that it was indeed successful," noted the mayor, thanking the cooperation of the local government, officials, and supporting institutions.

Parliamentarians and Local Authorities on the Investment's Significance

Numerous guests attended the ceremony, including parliamentarians and local government representatives. Senator Ryszard Bober highlighted the fundamental importance of water: "Without water, there is no life, which is why every investment improving access to it is of enormous importance to residents." MP Zbigniew Sosnowski drew attention to the aspect of security, stating that "investments in modern water infrastructure are investments in the safety and comfort of residents' lives."

The authorities of the Brodnica County Self-Government also expressed their appreciation. The Chairman of the Brodnica County Council, Marek Hildebrandt, and Vice-Starosta Piotr Burkwicz extended their congratulations to the commune's hosts. Vice-Starosta Burkwicz emphasized that responsible management of natural resources and investments in water supply systems are crucial in the face of growing challenges related to water availability.

Also present at the ceremony were county councillors Halina Obijalska and Piotr Śliwowski, as well as Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship Councillor Paweł Zgórzyński.

Local Contractor and European Support

The investment was carried out by the Brodnica-based company Fiszer Sp. z o.o., which underscores the local nature of the endeavor. The total project value amounted to 7,020,996.39 PLN, of which as much as 5,000,000 PLN came from European Union co-financing under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan - the NextGenerationEU instrument.

Increased Safety and Reliability

As local authorities from Jabłonowo Pomorskie unanimously emphasize, this investment has significantly increased the safety and reliability of the water supply system. Residents have gained better access to clean, high-quality drinking water, which is crucial for their comfort and health. Smart water management remains one of the greatest challenges, and Jabłonowo Pomorskie demonstrates how to effectively meet it.
