Urgent Decision by Brodnica District Council: Treasurer Dismissed!

During the XXVII session of the Brodnica District Council, held last Tuesday (February 24, 2026), a pivotal decision was made to dismiss Joanna Rumińska from the position of district treasurer. The vote concluded with 14 votes in favor of the dismissal, three against, and two abstentions.

History of Appointment and Reasons for Dismissal

Joanna Rumińska had served as treasurer since May 14, 2024, when she was appointed during the second session of the current term, recommended by the then-starosta Paweł Szramek. At that time, 10 councillors voted for her appointment, five abstained, and four were absent.

The current starosta, Arkadiusz Orłowski, emphasized that Tuesday's decision by the Council was "substantive and responsible, made out of concern for the proper functioning of the district's finances." He expressed gratitude to the councillors for their support. The starosta also noted that cooperation within the majority coalition of councillors in the Brodnica District Council is progressing very well, with the overarching goal being the financial stability and security of the district.

"The Brodnica District must have a treasurer present at work and genuinely responsible for its finances," stated the Chairman of the Brodnica District Board. He added that "ensuring the continuity of financial management was our duty. Responsibility for the district's budget cannot wait."

Other Topics of the XXVII Session

During the same session, councillors considered several other important draft resolutions, including:

  • Expressing consent for the Brodnica District to acquire ownership rights to real estate free of charge by donation.
  • Changes in the composition of the Social Council of the Brodnica Health Care Complex.
  • Modifications to resolutions concerning the Brodnica District's membership in the Kujawsko-Pomorska Tourist Organization, the Local Tourist Organization Brodnica Lake District, and the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Local Government Association Salutaris.
  • Changes to the Brodnica District budget for 2026.
  • A draft resolution regarding the provision of financial assistance (a targeted grant) to the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship for the preparation of design documentation for the task "Construction of the Brodnica City Bypass - Stage II and III of the Industrial Route, on the section from Warszawskie Roundabout to Lidzbarska Street, along with the expansion of the road system along Nowa, Tulipanowa, 18 Stycznia, Matejki, Michałowska, and Litewska Streets in Brodnica."

Furthermore, the Council considered a petition regarding the construction of a district sports and training shooting range within the Brodnica district and listened to a report on the average salaries of teachers in schools run by the Brodnica District for 2025.

All these decisions underscore the active efforts of the Brodnica District Council towards the development and stability of the region.
