Brodnica Embraces Green Future: Multi-Million Investments in Thermal Modernization of Schools and Kindergartens!

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, a significant event for the local community took place at the Brodnica City Hall. Krzysztof Hekert, Deputy Mayor of Brodnica, formally signed two crucial agreements, paving the way for comprehensive thermal modernization of educational facilities in the city. These investments, part of the "Thermal Modernization of Educational Facilities in Brodnica" project, aim to increase energy efficiency and improve learning and play conditions for the youngest residents.

Primary School No. 2 to Shine Anew

The first agreement was signed with WTM Sp. z o.o. from Rogówek and concerns the thermal modernization of Primary School No. 2 at Kolejowa Street. The scope of planned works is extensive and includes:

• Replacement of lighting with modern, energy-efficient LED systems.
• Installation of low-temperature radiators with insulation and thermostatic valves, significantly impacting heating efficiency.
• Installation of a photovoltaic system, supporting clean energy production.
• Implementation of supply-exhaust ventilation with heat recovery (recuperation), ensuring fresh air with minimal heat loss.
• Complete removal of the old roof covering and comprehensive thermal modernization of the flat roof.
• Replacement of all window and door joinery, which will improve thermal insulation.
• Renovation of sanitary rooms, corridors on the 1st and 2nd floors, and staircases, including balustrade replacement, enhancing aesthetics and safety.
• Construction of an aesthetic pavement around the building and entrance canopies.

The value of this investment is an impressive 6,139,000.00 PLN, of which 4,307,056.91 PLN are eligible costs co-financed by the National Recovery Plan. The works are scheduled to be completed by August 31, 2026.

Modernity at Kindergarten No. 8

The second agreement, signed with Przedsiębiorstwo Budowlane KOM-BUD Sp. z o.o. from Brodnica, concerns the thermal modernization of Kindergarten No. 8 at Zielona Street. Here too, the scope of activities is comprehensive, including:

• Replacement of lighting with LED systems, creating better conditions for play and learning.
• Installation of low-temperature radiators with insulation and thermostatic valves.
• Installation of a photovoltaic system, contributing to sustainable development.
• Implementation of supply-exhaust ventilation with heat recovery (recuperation).
• Insulation of the flat roof and replacement of window and door joinery.
• Renovation of the roof covering along with partial replacement of structural elements.
• Demolition of a fragment of the former boiler room.
• Renovation of stairs and terrace, improving functionality and safety.

The cost of this investment is 2,485,951.86 PLN, of which 1,876,218,74 PLN are eligible costs, also financed by the National Recovery Plan. Similar to the school project, the completion deadline for the works is August 31, 2026.

These significant investments demonstrate Brodnica's commitment to sustainable development, improving the quality of educational infrastructure, and caring for the comfort and safety of children and youth. Thanks to thermal modernization, educational facilities will become more energy-efficient, and thus more environmentally friendly and cost-effective for the city budget.
