Ice Fishing Competition for the Mayor of Brodnica Commune Cup

Despite the extreme cold, reaching -18°C, on Sunday, February 1, 2026, as many as 40 ice fishing enthusiasts gathered on Lake Szczuka to compete for the prestigious Mayor of Brodnica Commune Cup!

The competition was organized by the Board of the Polish Angling Association Koło Polmo Brodnica. A six-member judging panel, chaired by the chief judge Stefan Janiszewski, oversaw the correct course of the competition.

After a fierce, three-hour battle, Mateusz Lamka emerged as the winner, scoring 1505 points. The largest fish, a 27 cm perch, was caught by Zbigniew Górczyński.

Who would have thought that even in such frosty conditions, fish would be so eager to compete!
