With Deep Sorrow, We Say Goodbye to Edward Koźmiński

It is with great sadness that we received the news of the passing of Edward Koźmiński, an outstanding local government official and social activist, whose contribution to the development of education and scouting in Brodnica and the Brodnica County is invaluable. Condolences are offered by representatives of the County Board, the County Council, and employees of the County Office in Brodnica.

Life and Social Activity

Edward Koźmiński was a councilor of the Brodnica City Council from 1994–1998 and 2002–2006, serving as the vice-chairman of the council from 2003. He dedicated his entire life to working for the benefit of Brodnica's education and youth. He served as an education and upbringing inspector and the manager of the Children's and Youth Recreation Center in Ciche. From 1947, he was associated with the Polish Scouting Association, serving as the chairman of the Senior Circle named after hm. Jerzy Lendzion in Brodnica. He was also a co-founder and president of the Brodnica Educational Association, vice-president of the Regional Board of the Polish Red Cross in Brodnica, and president of the "KIWANIS" Drwęca Club Association in Brodnica. He actively participated in the construction of Brodnica's kindergartens, the sports hall at Primary School No. 2, and the Special School in Brodnica.

Honors and Farewell

For his activities, Edward Koźmiński was honored with numerous decorations, including the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Gold Cross of Merit, the Medal of the National Education Commission, as well as the Primus Inter Brodnicienses Medal, the Brodnica Mayor's Medal, and the Ubi Concordia Ibi Victoria Medal of the Brodnica Staroste.

Edward Koźmiński passed away on January 28, 2026, at the age of 91. The funeral ceremonies will take place on February 4, 2026, in the parish church in Brodnica. The authorities of Brodnica County and employees of the County Office express their condolences to the Family and Loved Ones. May the memory of his work and commitment remain with us.
