Conference on the S15 Expressway – Benefits for Brodnica

Conference dedicated to the S15 Expressway

On January 22, 2026, the Mayor of Brodnica Commune, Adam Zalewski, participated in a conference entitled "S15 – Concept, Benefits, Partnership". The meeting took place at the Marshal's Office of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship in Toruń and was led by the Marshal of the Voivodeship, Piotr Całbecki.

Assumptions for the Construction of the S15

During the conference, the assumptions for the construction of the new S15 expressway were discussed, which is to connect four central-western Polish voivodeships on the route from Ostróda to Opole. The planned length of the route is approximately 475 km. The social and economic benefits of this investment, its impact on the country's development, and the improvement of transport accessibility of cities such as Toruń, Inowrocław, Brodnica, Kalisz, and Konin were emphasized.

Importance of the S15 for Development

The S15 project is to be a key element of the Acceleration Strategy 2030+ and the Development Strategy of Poland 2035. Its implementation is to counteract the marginalization of areas without access to expressways. The need for cooperation between local governments to support the initiative and include it in national investment plans was emphasized.

Benefits for Brodnica Commune

Brodnica Commune, surrounding the city of Brodnica, can benefit from the improved transport accessibility and increased investment attractiveness of the region. Maintaining Brodnica in the region of the S15 corridor will enable better connections to the expressway network, which will shorten travel times to larger centers, seaports, and border crossings. This can attract new investments, especially in the logistics and service sectors, and promote the development of local enterprises and farms.

Potential Threats

The construction of the S15 also involves potential threats, such as the fragmentation of the landscape and agricultural land. It is crucial to carefully designate the route corridor so as not to cut off the commune from the existing communication routes and not bypass the local settlement and economic structure.
