Conference on the S15 Road in Toruń

On January 22, 2026, a conference dedicated to the construction of the S15 expressway took place at the Marshal's Office of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship in Toruń. The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Brodnica Commune, Adam Zalewski. The conference was led by the Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, Piotr Całbecki.

Assumptions and Benefits of S15 Construction

During the conference, the assumptions for the construction of the S15 road, which will connect four central-western Polish voivodeships on the route from Ostróda to Opole, covering approximately 475 km, were discussed. The importance of the investment for the country's development, improving communication in cities such as Toruń, Inowrocław, Brodnica, Kalisz and Konin was emphasized.

The S15 project is part of the Acceleration Strategy 2030+ and the Polish Development Strategy 2035, aimed at counteracting the marginalization of areas without access to expressways. A call was made for cooperation among local governments to strengthen the chances of the investment being implemented.

Impact of S15 on Brodnica Commune

Brodnica rural commune, surrounding the city of Brodnica, can benefit from improved transport accessibility and investment attractiveness. Keeping Brodnica in the S15 corridor will improve connections to the expressway network, shortening travel times to major centers, seaports and border crossings. This may attract new investments, develop local businesses and agriculture.

Improving communication will also affect the attractiveness of the commune for residents, reducing migration and improving the quality of life through better access to services and education.

Potential Threats

The construction of the S15 also involves threats, such as landscape fragmentation. It is crucial to carefully designate the route so as not to cut off the commune from existing communication routes and not to miss the local settlement and economic system.
