INTERPOL Remembers Fallen Officers

INTERPOL Campaign: "Remembering Fallen Officers"

INTERPOL's campaign dedicated to the memory of fallen officers lasts until March 7, 2026. This day marks the International Day of Remembrance for Fallen Police Officers, established by INTERPOL. Around the world, a minute of silence will commemorate those who died in the line of duty, protecting the lives and health of citizens.

Tribute and Reflection

It is a day of reflection, gratitude, and tribute to those who sacrificed their lives to ensure the safety of societies worldwide. In the coming weeks, INTERPOL will share stories and reflections from police officers from various countries on its social media accounts, highlighting the challenges and threats they face every day.

Illumination Initiative

On the evening of March 7, as a tribute to the fallen, INTERPOL will launch a blue lighting initiative at police headquarters and famous landmarks around the world. On this day, flags will be lowered to half-mast. From bridges to UNESCO monuments, cities around the world will become symbols of unity and remembrance.

Commemorations and Remembrance in Poland

Observances of this day take place in many countries in various forms. The Polish Police also participates in this international campaign. During the national Police Day celebrations, epitaph plaques are unveiled on the Memorial Board and new cards are added to the Book of Remembrance at the Police Headquarters.

Book of Remembrance and Family Support

The Book of Remembrance contains the names and profiles of officers who gave their lives defending others. The families of the fallen and the units in which they served receive memory cards and copies of orders from the Chief of Police. The police community also supports the families of the fallen through the Foundation for Assistance to Widows and Orphans of Fallen Police Officers.

Memory That Will Not Fade

The police community pays tribute to the fallen by laying flowers and lighting candles in front of the obelisk "To the Fallen Policemen - Republic of Poland" in front of the Police Headquarters. The memory of those who died saving others will never be forgotten.
