Heroic Action of Officers: Rescuing a Lost Man in the Forest

On Wednesday, February 12, police officers from Brodnica saved the life of a man who got lost in the forest. The semi-conscious victim was found tangled in a thick bramble of blackberries.

The ordeal began when a woman contacted the Brodnica district officer, informing him that her partner had not returned home for the night. The officers did not wait for an official report and immediately began their search.

The head of the II District Police Unit, Senior Aspirant Wojciech Silkowski, and District Officer Staff Aspirant Michał Drożdziński, utilizing their experience and knowledge of the area, headed towards the forests near the missing person’s home.

During their search, they spotted a standing man in the distance. Upon approaching, they realized it was the missing 55-year-old resident of Brodnica County, who was entangled in blackberry bushes, preventing him from escaping. Additionally, he had multiple hand injuries and was experiencing confusion and disorientation.

The 55-year-old was in a serious condition, severely hypothermic and exhausted. The officers quickly freed him from the bushes, placed him in the police car, wrapped him in a thermal blanket, and called for the Medical Rescue Team.

Thanks to the swift actions of the officers, the man received the necessary medical assistance and is alive today.
