Independence Day at the Primary School in Gortatowo

On November 7, 2025, the Primary School in Gortatowo, located in Szczuka, hosted exceptional celebrations of National Independence Day. The solemn assembly gathered many distinguished guests.

Among the invited guests were: Adam Zalewski – Mayor of Brodnica Municipality, Kamila Maciejewska – Councilor of Brodnica Municipality Council and Chairwoman of the Parents' Council, Kazimierz Piotrkowski – Councilor of Brodnica Municipality, Joanna Bonawenturska – Director of the Municipal Library in Szczuka, Maryla Niedbalska, Urszula Piotrkowska, Wioletta Marchlewska, Emilia Liszewska, Wojciech Skrzyński and Waldemara Kulwicki - representatives of the Village Councils from Szczuka, Szymkowo, Podgórze, Cieląta, Gortatowo and Sobiesierżno, President of the Fire Department Eugeniusz Jakubowski and Chief Kacper Osiński along with firefighters from the Fire Department in Szczuka, Chairwoman of the Rural Housewives Association in Szczuka Krystyna Koprowska along with ladies from the Association, Marzena Skrzyńska Chairwoman of the Rural Housewives Association in Gortatowo, Sylwia Weiss from the Parents' Council from Cieląta, and Jolanta Zembrzycka – School Nurse, as well as teachers, non-teaching staff and students.

The artistic part, prepared by students from grades 4-8 under the direction of Mrs. Zofia Matuszewska, Mrs. Katarzyna Grążawska and Mrs. Małgorzata Pierścionek – Sarnowska, ended with the common singing of patriotic songs. After the assembly, representatives of the Student Council laid flowers and lit candles at the Monument to the Fallen in the years 1914-1918, located next to the church in Szczuka.

All those gathered took part in the "School for the Anthem" campaign and at 11:11 together sang "Poland Is Not Yet Lost". In the spirit of the theme of this year's celebrations, "Be a Safe Patriot", students wore reflective vests during the ceremony.
