Important Information Regarding the Presence of Wolves in the Brodnica Commune

Information about Wolves in the Brodnica Commune

In response to the increasing number of reports concerning the presence of wolves in the Brodnica Commune, we remind residents to adhere to basic safety principles:

  • Do not feed the wolves. If a wolf appears weakened, sick, or does not maintain a distance of 30 m from humans, contact the Brodnica Commune Office.
  • Do not leave unsecured food, including leftovers and pet food, on the property or in the forest.
  • Secure waste containers.
  • Between dusk and dawn, secure domestic animals, keep dogs indoors or in a kennel (not on a leash).
  • Keep dogs on a leash in the forest.
  • Never touch wolf cubs. If you are aware of someone keeping a wolf cub, immediately inform the Police.
  • Secure livestock. The State Treasury does not pay compensation for animals left unsecured from dusk to dawn.

Remember! The wolf is a protected species in Poland. Killing or poaching a wolf is punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment.
