Ceremony at the Primary School in Gortatowo

On September 30, 2025, at the Primary School in Gortatowo, located in Szczuka, a ceremony was held to unveil a commemorative plaque dedicated to the late Professor Jan Powierski, on the 85th anniversary of his birth. Professor Powierski was born in Szczuka.

Local Community Involvement

The preparation of the commemorative stone involved active participation from: Parish Priest Marcin Kaczyński, Joanna Kalenik, firefighters from the Szczuka Volunteer Fire Department, and Sławomir Stachurski (excavator operator). The plaque was made and funded by Leszek Wątorowski from Szczuka. Teachers and school staff prepared the entire ceremony, and the ladies from the Parents' Council provided refreshments after the unveiling.
